As an avid RPG fan: this list is bull. WoW is number 1, while Planescape: Torment is only number 7? Baldur's Gate is only number 8? Puh-lease.

That list is more "Ten of the RPGs I enjoy the most", not "Ten Most Influential RPGs of Our Time"

wow what a sucky list is that. I'm surprised NwN isn't in that and Diablo 2 had a much better success than the first one,

Yeeeeah I'm disagreeing with that order. WoW is definately somewhere on the list, though.
Fable was on there, too? Now that's a fun game, but not mindblowing. And I'd call Daggerfall more influential than Morrowind, but no one's played the former.

The only thing WoW ever influenced was the death of real Warcraft.

It's a pretty good list, but the ordering doesn't totally agree with me.
As to NwN and D2, they were both huge, but their predecessors were more important and influential. Influential is the most important part.
Arena and Daggerfall were great, but I suppose Morrowind is still more influential and is much more known to the public.

I think it's pretty accurate, though final fantasy pretty clearly belongs at #1 since it pretty much started the whole RPG thing back in the day. Neverwinter nights wasn't nearly as influential as the Baldur's gate series, which spawned a horde of single player RPGs. Diablo 2, while a big deal in it's own right, wasn't the groundbreaking game that the original Diablo was. Remember, before Diablo, there really had been no fast-paced RPG games.
I am surprised to not see Everquest on there, but I guess it didn't really do anything that Ultima hadn't already done before.
WoW really has spawned the current MMORPG craze, Guild Wars pretty much picks up the people unwilling to pay the monthly fee (be honest, why did you pick up GW instead of WoW?)

All I have to say is that this list was made by somebody who is either very young or just started playing RPG's fairly recently. There are a lot of games that predate pretty much everything on that list that were incredibly influential. I am dissapointed with that list.

The Final Fantasys are the only RPGs that have come even close to being accepted in mainstream western culture, therefore I'd have to take my pick among those games.

In that guy's defense its VERY hard to rank those RPG's, but its definitely not in that order that he put it.

Baldurs Gate really should have been no. #1 in my opinion that was THE most influencial RPG ive ever played in all its incarnations. WoW is popular atm there no denying that But that doesnt make it influencial. It should be in the list but considerably lower. And Ever Quest should really be in top 10 too as the mother of the mmo-rpg's.

I never play Fable so I don't have anything to say about it. Diablo?!! oh please. WOW should be in the top 10 but not at No.1 and where are Deus EX and System Shock 2?
My list would be:
1. Baldur's Gate Series.
2. Fallout.
3. Planescape: Torment.
4. Deus EX.
5. Morrowind.
6. Guild Wars Series.
7. Star Wars: Kotor 1-2.
8. System Shock 2.
9. World of Warcraft.
10. Final Fantasy Series.
Damn! no rooms for Ultima and Shemue or Dragon Quest Series.

ah yeah EQ!, I knew I left some other out as well, like NWN but it wasn't that good imo. And SWO as well if sony didn't kill it completely. There are some great J-RPG also like Secrect of Mana & Chrono Trigger, oh yeah! Zelda.
Sophitia, you should make the best of or top 30 rpg games list.

Because Warcraft never intrested me, not even as an RTS... Starcraft for life.
The list should be renamed to " Top ten games currently causing the most game related deaths"
